Wildscreen Festival in Nairobi, Kenya!
What a weekend! For the first time in history of Wildscreen Festival, the festival was brought to Nairobi, Kenya. A perfect opportunity to boost the talent we have here in Kenya and give upcoming filmmakers, directors, photographers and producers the chance to network with the big shots of the natural history industry.
The two day festival was full of exciting workshops, panels and presentations, where experts in their field shared their knowledge with the audience. More than 200 people visited the festival in Nairobi. With our new wildlife production company “Africa Wildlife Productions Ltd.” we were one of the official supporters of the festival. And I had the honor to talk about the “Behind the scenes” of filming “The Secrets of the elephants”. Which premiered in Kenya the same evening.
I believe in empowerment and love to share my knowledge about the amazing field of wildlife filmmaking. Africa Wildlife Productions Ltd. sponsored five students to attend the festival for free and get the chance to get a sneak preview into the world of natural history film making.
Another highlight for me was the official RED workshop in the Nairobi National Park. Where twelve young film makers got the opportunity to play with the big guns… Together with Tom Martienssen, Kire Goodall and Oscar winner Kartiki Gonsalves, we held an amazing workshop for long lens filming and wildlife story telling. Thanks a lot to Brian Henderson from RED Digital Cinema for all the support!
As there is so much potential in Kenya and Africa itself, we are going to explore the options available for Kenyan Wildlife Productions in the future and looking forward to an exciting time in the future!
